The Painting and Drawing sector is one of our newest disciplines. All classes are led by Justin Wiest who has been instructing drawing and painting in the area for over twenty years. He studied figurative art at The Schuler School, Circulo Bellas Artes (Madrid), and the New York Academy. Art has provided him a ceaseless sense of excitement and wonder.

Spring Semester Classes *

Drawing Classes are being offered in seven week sessions. Each session will begin the week of March 16th and will run until April 27th. Registration is now open for Spring Semester! See below for class details and to register for classes.

Mondays

Pre-College Portfolio Development Class from 4:30-6:30PM ($435)

As young artists (ages 15-18) follow their interests and passions there may come a point when they wish to develop a formal collection of work that represents their artistic distinction. This class offers a collaborative effort to analyze existing work while expanding depth of mastery and breadth of media. Emphasis will be placed on drawing and two-dimensional design fundamentals. With a strong foundation in perceptual understanding, the student will have more freedom in creative expression. A successful portfolio should reveal the beginnings of a young artist’s voice and style. Rendering projects will include people, environment (perspective), and conceptual constructions. Bringing inspired ideas to fruition is the aspiration of the class.

Wednesdays

Adult Figure Drawing Class from 6:30-9:30PM ($455)

This class delves into the human figure while improving drawing skills. Anatomy, proportions, and symmetry will be revealed through careful observation. Purposeful looking helps the artist “see” the larger structural events that are unfolding. The knowledge of form is invaluable to all branches of art. Some classes will host a live nude figure. Some previous drawing experience is helpful.
