July 6-10 | Monday - Friday | In this clay summer session for youth ages 6-11, students will learn hand-building techniques to create sculptural and functional pieces. They will also learn the pottery wheel to create a variety of forms such as bowls, cups, and small plates. This week’s creative prompt is Animals and Pottery. Whether you love dogs or whales this is your week to bring the animal kingdom to the clay.  Students will paint and draw on their favorite animals for inspiration. This summer session is open to beginners and students with previous clay experience. When the week is finished their work will be fired and glazed. It will be available to pick up 3 weeks after the last class.

Students will be making two musical instruments: a wooden whistle & slap stick. This session is open to beginners and students with previous woodworking experience. Students will personally customize all of their projects.

Students will be making outdoor wooden objects such as a birdhouse or a kite! This session is open to beginners and students with previous woodworking experience. Students will personally customize all of their projects.

July 27-31| Monday - Friday | In this woodworking summer session for youth ages 8-12, students will focus on foundational/fundamental woodworking skills, exclusively using hand tools (hand drills, carving tools, miter box, coping saw etc.) This week’s creative project is a wooden small step stool. This session is open to beginners and students with previous woodworking experience. Students will personally customize all of their projects.

Students will engage in more advanced projects focusing on design, functionality, and shop safety. Students will use a mix of hand tools and power tools (under heavy supervision). In this week, students will create a hand made wooden planter box! This session is opened to beginners and students with previous woodworking experience. Students will personally customize all of their projects.

July 20-24 | Monday - Friday | In this woodworking summer session for teenagers ages 13-17, students will focus on foundational/fundamental woodworking skills. Students will engage in more advanced projects focusing on design, functionality, and shop safety. Students will use a mix of hand tools and power tools (under heavy supervision). In this week, students will create a hand made “bar” stool! This session is opened to beginners and students with previous woodworking experience. Students will personally customize all of their projects. Students are encouraged to take this session and next week’s session to ensure completion of project.

July 27-31| Monday - Friday | In this woodworking summer session for teenagers ages 13-17, students will focus on foundational/fundamental woodworking skills. Students will engage in more advanced projects focusing on design, functionality, and shop safety. Students will use a mix of hand tools and power tools (under heavy supervision) This week’s creative project is a wooden “bar” step stool. This session is open to beginners and students with previous woodworking experience. Students will personally customize all of their projects. Students are encouraged to take Week 3 as well as Week 4 to ensure completion of their stool!

July 6-10 | Monday - Friday | In this textile summer session for youth ages 8-12, students will be able to transform their space with handmade décor! Students will create a small woven tapestry style wall hanging on a frame loom, craft cheerful summer garlands using wet felting techniques and colorful beads, and hand stitch their own decorative pillow to brighten up any room. Each project teaches fundamental textile skills while producing pieces that add personality and warmth to their personal spaces. Throughout the week, students will have access to our mixed media collage table to create additional artwork using fabric scraps, threads, and embellishments. This session is opened to beginners and students with previous textile experience.

July 13-17 | Monday - Friday | In this textile summer session for youth ages 8-12, students will be able to express their style through fiber! Students will design and weave colorful cuff bracelets, create embroidered decorative patches to personalize their clothing, and finger knit a cozy scarf. This week focuses on wearable pieces that showcase individual creativity and can be worn with pride or shared with friends. Throughout the week, students will have access to our mixed media collage table to create additional artwork using fabric scraps, threads, and embellishments. This session is opened to beginners and students with previous textile experience.

July 20-24 | Monday - Friday | In this textile summer session for youth ages 8-12, students will be able to make meaningful handmade gifts! Students will weave unique bookmarks for the readers in their lives, hand stitch a practical pencil case, and wet felt adorable keychain creatures. Each project is designed to be gift-ready, teaching students the joy of creating thoughtful, one-of-a-kind presents for friends, family or of course to gift to themselves. Throughout the week, students will have access to our mixed media collage table to create additional artwork using fabric scraps, threads, and embellishments. This session is opened to beginners and students with previous textile experience.

August 3-7| Monday - Friday | 1-4PM | In this teen summer session, students ages 13-18 will be have an introductory course as young artists to familiarize themselves with the various topics of image making. The class will use graphic means to investigate the proportion of people, the perspective of space, and the overall composition of things within that space. This understanding helps the artist communicate their ideas and realize their creative inspirations. This class is a perfect springboard for portfolio development.

August 10-14| Monday - Friday | 1-4PM | Every great painter must be able to control color to the benefit of their compositions. Color theory will be delved into with practical applications. Students will develop their own personal palette and apply it to the daily setup. Group critiques and discussions will center around the symbolic, psychological, and universal power of color. By the end of the week the students should have a confident portfolio piece as well as a greater sensitivity to the intricacies of color. The Munsell color system will be stressed.
