Textile Youth Summer Sessions:

Monday-Friday | Ages 8-12 | 1:00-4:00PM | $450

Monday-Friday | 1-4PM | August 3rd- 21st |This intensive three-week program is designed for high school students interested in exploring textile arts and building work for their college application portfolios. Students will gain comprehensive weaving skills while developing their personal artistic voice through structured exploration and independent project development.

3-Week Pre-College Textile Summer Session (Ages 13-18)

  • Students will be introduced to the essential principles of weaving, learning proper loom setup, understanding warp and weft relationships, and mastering basic weaving techniques. Through hands-on instruction, participants will explore weave structure and tapestry techniques while building a strong technical foundation. By the end of the week, students will have completed initial practice pieces and gained confidence working in the the textile art of weaving.

  • This week focuses on deepening technical skills and discovering personal aesthetic direction. Students will experiment with diverse materials—from traditional fibers to unconventional natural and found materials—while exploring how different textures, colors, and structures express meaning in their work. Through creating multiple samples and variations, students will refine their technique, document their process, and develop a cohesive concept for their final portfolio piece.

  • Students will bring their vision to life, creating a completed woven work ready for college applications. With instructor guidance, participants will execute their final project, learn techniques, and articulate their creative process. The week culminates in a critique session where students present their finished pieces and artist statements, gaining valuable experience in discussing their work in an academic context.
