NO SMOKING. No smoking is permitted on Studio Andreasā premises nor in or near the building.
Members are responsible for their guests and any damage they or their guests cause.
The ceramics studio might be closed for limited periods of time due to equipment and studio maintenance, emergencies, or rare occasions; at least twenty-four-hour notice of such studio closings will be provided when possible.
Please remember that Studio Andreas ceramics studio is a communal space. Your fellow members and Studio Andreas students deserve a clean work environment. We kindly request that you clean up after yourself and guests. Always review the clean-up checklist before you leave the studio.
DO NOT discard clay down sink drains.
If members do not follow cleaning protocols and receive three complaints, we may cancel their membership.
We request that all members complete one studio task of their choosing per month in coordination with the Ceramics Manager. Some examples of studio tasks might include wedging clay and mixing glazes, among others.
Any accidents in the studio will be documented by incident reports. After three incidents, members will be required to repeat the orientation.

Studio Andreas is a welcoming and diverse community; and we aim to foster an inclusive, understanding and inspiring environment. We ask that all members respect personal boundaries. DAMAGED WORK
While Studio Andreas makes every effort to handle student work with the utmost care, we cannot guarantee perfect results. If a member damages another artistās work, they should write a note and inform the Ceramics Manager.

Please use tools and equipment carefully and gently. Students who damage Studio Andreasā equipment such as our kiln or kiln shelves are liable for the cost of repairs or replacement, depending on the damage.

Only students enrolled in classes may receive instruction and assistance from ceramics instructors and only during class.
Members may direct their questions to the Ceramics Manager (nereanicholsons@gmail.com) or Studio Andreas Administration (studioandreasllc@gmail.com ). Owner, Mark Andreas may be reached at 203-521-9183.
GLAZING and CLAY
Firings/Clay/Glazes
Studio Andreas is a mid-fire studio. Studio Andreas is not a production pottery studio nor does it allow slip casting.
The firing fee is $1 per one pound of clay, except anything ten inches and over is $1.50 per pound. Firing fees are waived if the member is enrolled in a ceramics class. To determine the cost of firing, each piece will be weighed after glazing and then again before the second firing.
Studio Andreas will only fire work that members create at Studio Andreas. Studio Andreas will not fire any work made by nonmembers or not made at Studio Andreas.
As an important measure to protect the integrity of the kiln, members may only use the clay and glazes provided by Studio Andreas. Different types of clay or glazes may only be used if the Ceramics Manager tests and approves them.
We recommend members make their own cookies to best protect their work in the firing process. Underglazes are not included in membership (they are reserved for youth classes and occasional workshops).
Studio Andreas and the Ceramics Manager have the ultimate discretion concerning firing work. If Studio Andreas deems a memberās work too flawed to fire, such that it might cause damage to the kiln or anotherās work (i.e. excessive, thick or flaking glaze), Studio Andreas reserves the right not to fire it. In such cases, the work will be placed on the āOopsā shelf.
